My Story: From Isolation to Connection
Rebuilding the Village We Lost
There was a time when we lived in villages—when neighbors knew each other, when help was always nearby, when raising children truly took a community. That world has vanished, and we're all feeling the loss.
I learned this the hard way. In my mid-twenties, I became a mother living ten hours from family. Over eighteen years, my two children and I moved a dozen times—new towns, new neighborhoods, new provinces. Each move brought the same crushing realization: I was completely on my own.
Where could I find a babysitter I could trust? A math tutor for my daughter struggling in yet another new school? Flexible work that would let me provide for my children? Most painfully—how could I find genuine connection, someone who understood?
The isolation was overwhelming. When you're uprooting everything familiar, rebuilding community feels impossible. As a single mother carrying the weight of shame and sadness, surrounded by strangers in unfamiliar places, I felt invisible in a world that had forgotten how to truly connect.
But in that loneliness, a vision was born.
What if we could rebuild the village? What if there was a place where women could find each other, where moving somewhere new didn't mean starting completely alone, where making a friend wasn't left to chance?
That vision became KodaHub.
Koda means friend. In our disconnected world of not-so-social media and digital isolation, I wanted to create something we've lost: a genuine village where women support each other, build businesses together, and strengthen their communities.
